Selena M. Vela was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated in 2002 from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology. While she attended UTSA, she was active in The Physician Assistant Society and Sigma Kappa Sorority. She was also involved in philanthropic events at Cancer Therapy Research Center, he Veteran Affairs Hospital, the Animal Humane Society, and the Ronald McDonald House.
In 2007, Selena earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg, Texas. In 2008, she earned a Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Texas-Pan American. While she attended Physician Assistant school she volunteered at the Hope Clinic, a free medical/dental clinic for the less fortunate.
Selena is currently a member of the Bexar County Physician Assistant Society, the American Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants. She is also certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. As a physician assistant, she has worked in family practice and internal medicine. She has worked in the bariatric field since 2008 and has extensive experience in medical weight loss. Selena enjoys benefiting the community by providing the highest standard of health care to help improve the health and well-being of her patients.
