Dr. Paul Salem

Shaped by his years of military service and medical education, Dr. Paul Salem lives by the values of professionalism, dedication, and excellence. He will be your staunchest ally on your journey to metabolic health.

As a younger man, Dr. Paul Salem enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving as an infantryman and scout/sniper. Combat deployment inspired him to pursue a career as a physician and instilled a strong sense of purpose, discipline, and integrity that carried through to his medical training.

Dr. Paul Salem earned a Bachelor of Science from Duke University before attending the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine. During this time, he discovered an aptitude and love for laparoscopic surgery. He went on to complete his general surgery residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital. Throughout his training he was recognized as both a talented student and mentor, receiving several teaching accolades. He went on to specialize in metabolic and bariatric surgery, completing a fellowship at Lahey Clinic, among the most distinguished centers in New England, where he developed expertise with laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, roux-en-Y gastric bypass, duodenal switch, and SADI-S. He is board certified in general surgery and is known to his colleagues and patients as a thoughtful and compassionate physician.
