After ‘The Biggest Loser,’ Their Bodies Fought to Regain Weight
The article outlines and then expands on a recently published article showing a very strong tendency for contestants on “The Biggest Loser” TV show to regain their weight. The study confirms the experience that we hear from patients every day; it’s possible to lose weight through diet and exercise but lifestyle intervention does not correct the body’s abnormal fat storage ‘set point.’ If a weight loss intervention is going to last, then it needs to change the physical sensations that lead to weight regain – surgery is the only tool that reliably achieves that goal.
